Irene Price (Virtue) (Irven’s sister)
Married Barber Virtue, a neighbor whose wife had died. He had two children, Hazen Virtue - died, Douglas Virtue . . . and Irene had a son with Barber, Benny Virtue - a tall larky boy as I remember him. Hazen and Douglas were friendly and we children visited often. Barber let an Indian of the Micmac tribe cut ash for baskets on his property in summer, so I had an early introduction to Native Indians. The Indian took a liking to me and made me a beautiful bow with arrows. He brought his daughter one summer. We were sitting (with Hazen and Douglas) on the steps and her clothes smelled of smoke-from the often wood fires the Indians used. Barber died, (date ?). Irene remarried and moved away on Darling Island in the Keneliecasis Rive near Moncton, N.B. I visited her (with Joan) in . We had a nice visit. Her husband was looking after a farm on the island for the owner. I saw a lot of mushrooms in the yard. I picked a grocery paper bag (Steinberg’s) full. Irene cooked a big pan for me - but the others were afraid to eat them. I recognized them from when I was young. I had pans of the mushrooms for almost a week when we returned to Sabrevois. Died on Darling Island near Sussex, buried at Havelock, NB(Source: (1) PANB - Birth Record, Code 1903-801888, Microfilm F18906 ., (2) 1911 Sussex, Kings & Albert County Census.); m.
