Edmund Price and his wife Jane Webb came to Gagetown, Queens County,
in 1767 from New Jersey with their 4-5 children (including George
Webb) and settled on 200 acres of land with 40 rods frontage along
the St. John River. Edmund and Jane were among the first English-
speaking settlers along the St. John River having been enticed there
to occupy lands vacated by the Acadians who had been deported in 1754
by Governor Lawrence. Sometime between 1779 and 1781, Edmund and
Jane moved from Gagetown to occupy a choice 400 acres of farmland on
the River between Evandale and Oak Point at the head of "The Mistake"
(deeded 28 February 1783). Edmund and Jane had a large family.
Their daughter Jerusha married loyalist Oswell Alward 23 June 1799.
She died 7 March 1846.

The Royal Gazette mentions the settlement of Edmund Price's estate 5
October 1803, p. 3.
Edmund died late 1785 or early 1786.

Subject: [NB] Edmund Price ancestry
Date: Sun, 20 Apr 2003 10:01:59 -0500

I was excited to see William Price's discovery of promising leads on the
parentage of Edmund Price. Edmund, a baker of New York, and Jane Webb
were married in 1757 at Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey. The
family settled at Gagetown, Queens County, New Brunswick, in 1767.
Edmund and Jane had at least fifteen children born between about 1758
and 1782. A son was named Allen McDugall Price.

As reported in Generations, the journal of the New Brunswick
Genealogical Society, spring 2003, page 21, William Price of Simcoe,
Ontario, found these items in New York City records:

1736 Feb. 23: John Price married Mary Cross. (New York marriage records,
marriage book vol. 1, p. 5)

1763 Apr. 7: Administration on the will of John Price was granted.

1765 Oct. 17: Mary Price married Allan McDougall. (New York marriage
book IX, p. 305)

Allan McDougall and his family had come to America in 1738 from
Scotland. Apparently he was widowed and married John Price's widow Mary.
Mary's son Edmund named a son, Allen McDugall Price, born in about 1764,
after Edmund's stepfather.

New Amsterdam/New York Reformed Dutch Church Baptisms,
<http://olivetreegenealogy.com/nn/church/rdc_bp1738.shtml>; shows this
record:

Anno 1738, Jan 8; John Price, Maria Cros; Antje; Barent Bosch, Aafje
Bruyn, z.h.v.

The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, Jan. 2003, has an
article on a Price family in what is now Columbia County, New York. I
don't see a connection between that family and John Price who married
Mary Cross. But the article notes that the name of John Price of
Columbia County is spelled many ways, including Brace, Brase, Parys,
Preis, Preuss, Preys and Prys, so we should keep in mind such alternate
spellings when searching for John and Mary (Cross) Price.
